As you will be aware, the General Election is due to take place on Thursday 12 December. Exceptionally, due to the short notice and the time of year of the election, buildings previously used for voting in Gerrards Cross are unavailable; and so the Electoral Commission has requested use of the school as a Polling Station. Under law, this is not a request which a school is permitted to turn down.
As the Polling Station for Gerrards Cross, the school site and the main building will be open to over 3000 residents from 7am – 10pm which means the safeguarding of our pupils cannot be guaranteed. Therefore the governors and I have taken the decision to close the school to pupils on Thursday 12 December.
The first performance (for adults only) of the EYFS / KS1 nativity has been rescheduled to Wednesday 11 December (10am) – please do change your diaries if you were planning to attend this performance.
On behalf of the governors, I would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this causes and thank you for your understanding. Thankfully Christmas General Elections are unusual, with the last one being on 6 December 1923. It shouldn’t be a problem that any of us has to deal with again!
