Extra Curricular activities

Our extra-curricular programme is designed to complement our co-curricular provision. It offers children the opportunity to further develop their skills and individual interests or explore something new. This is achieved through a range of activities, many of which take place outside of core school hours. We work with external professionals to facilitate a programme which provides access to high quality activities that will further enrich the educational experience of our pupils.

We provide a range of musical activities in our extra-curricular programme. Children from Year 3 can audition for the opportunity to enjoy individual or small group musical tuition, which is paid for by parents and carers. Instruments currently taught include piano, guitar, string, woodwind and brass instruments. Lessons take place before and during the school day, and children have the opportunity to perform in our annual ‘Instrumental Recital Evening’. We also have a school choir at different points during the academic year.

We also work with several external sporting providers. Gymnastics and tennis clubs are currently open to Key Stage 1 pupils; while hockey, cross country, football and netball are open to pupils in Key Stage 2. Some are paid for by parents, while others are provided by the school. Activities take place before and after school, and during the lunch break with information about different clubs sent to parents and carers at the start of each term. Football and netball teams, and our cross country squad represent the school regularly in local, regional and sometimes, national competitions. We are proud not only of the competitive performance of our pupils, but of their sportsmanship and the way in which they demonstrate our school values on the sports field.

Other extra-curricular activities, for example French lessons, are advertised to relevant year groups when available. We are always keen to hear from external providers who offer an activity which would complement our co-curricular programme in a way which would benefit our pupils.
